About BaseCommand

We're building the operating layer for the renewal motion

BaseCommand ships purpose-built AI agents for the work that drives GRR and NRR — the metrics public-company CEOs are graded on and the ones spreadsheets shouldn't be running.

Why we exist

Gainsight-level intelligence shouldn't cost $50K

For a decade and a half, the playbook for renewal teams at growing B2B SaaS companies has been the same: outgrow a HubSpot-shaped budget, then sign a six-figure contract for a Customer Success Platform. Health scoring, churn prediction, NRR rollups, renewal forecasting — locked behind a tier most teams couldn't justify until they were already too big to fail without it.

The teams in the middle — running 100–700 renewals a year on HubSpot, building health scores in Google Sheets, calling the renewal forecast off a CSM's gut — have been building their own version of Renewal Intelligence the hard way. Spreadsheets, custom properties, manual cadences, and a lot of Sunday-night triage.

BaseCommand is what happens when you take that playbook, write it down, and let AI agents run it. Flat-rate, HubSpot-native, distributed through agent.ai. The Renewal Intelligence layer the middle has been building by hand, finally productized.

What we believe

Six ideas that shape what we ship

Renewals deserve their own category

"Customer Intelligence" is saturated and vague. "Renewal Intelligence" is where budget actually sits — board-level metrics, allocated budget, the forecast that matters. We named the category because nobody else did.

Agents, not dashboards

A dashboard tells you what happened. An agent does the work. We ship workflows that read your CRM, run the analysis, and hand you the output — not another tab to monitor.

The playbook beats the platform

Multi-year anchor pricing. The 120/90/60/30 cadence. Real proposal math. The hard part isn't the AI — it's knowing what a good renewal motion looks like. We start from the playbook and let the AI execute it.

Flat rate, no per-token costs

You shouldn't need a finance review to run an agent. Distribution through agent.ai means one predictable subscription — whether you run 10 agents a month or 10,000. No metering, no surprises.

Honest about what we are

Early-stage product. No SOC 2 yet. We tell you upfront, and we offer a sandbox-evaluation path for security reviews that need it. No pretending to be enterprise-grade before we are.

Land where the work lives

CRMs are the system of record for renewals. We start with HubSpot — the CRM most underserved by purpose-built CS tooling — and the architecture is designed to extend to other CRMs as the renewal motion shows up there.

How we build

Four principles, no exceptions

1

Read-only by default

Most agents read your CRM and return analysis. The few that write back are explicit, opt-in, and clearly labeled per agent.

2

No data warehouse

We store no copy of your CRM data. Records are pulled per run, processed, and discarded. OAuth in. Email out. Nothing in between.

3

Workflow-first, not chat-first

Conversational AI is a feature. Renewal Intelligence is a workflow problem. Our agents are deterministic pipelines that run end-to-end, not chatbots you have to prompt.

4

Built for the renewal motion specifically

Every agent ladders up to Renewal Intelligence — health, churn, expansion, forecast, proposal, cadence. We don't chase adjacent use cases that dilute the playbook.

ME

Michael Ewing

Founder, BaseCommand · Ewing Ventures LLC

I spent 12 years running renewal and Customer Success teams at B2B SaaS companies. Every time I needed Gainsight-level intelligence, the answer was a $50K platform my company couldn't justify. So we built it ourselves — in spreadsheets, custom properties, and Monday-morning rituals.

BaseCommand is that homegrown playbook turned into a product. Health scoring, multi-year proposal math, the 120/90/60/30 cadence, operational forecast roll-up — the work I used to do by hand, now run by AI agents on top of your live HubSpot.

I currently lead Renewals & GTM Agentic Strategy at Quickbase, which keeps the playbook honest. BaseCommand is the externalized version of the same thinking, built for teams that aren't at Quickbase scale and shouldn't need to be.

The bigger picture

BaseCommand is part of the Agentic GTM & Systems group at Ewing Ventures LLC

Ewing Ventures is the parent — a small portfolio focused on Agentic GTM: the application of AI agents to revenue, retention, and operating motions in B2B SaaS. BaseCommand is the first product to ship.

Distribution runs through agent.ai, the agent marketplace built by HubSpot co-founder Dharmesh Shah's team. The platform handles execution, OAuth, and billing; we handle the playbook and the workflows. That's how the flat rate stays flat — agent.ai absorbs the AI cost.
